A Multiresolution Approach to Homogenization and Effective Modal Analysis of Complex Boundary Value Problems
نویسندگان
چکیده
We apply multiresolution techniques to study the eeective properties of boundary value problems. Conditions under which boundary values are preserved in the eeective (\ho-mogenized") formulation are developed and discussed. Relations between the eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of the generic formulation and those of the eeective formulation are explored and their dependence on the micro-scale is studied. Applications to the construction of eeective Green function in a complex lamination are discussed. The analytic results are demonstrated via numerical computations.

متن کاملHomogenization and Eeective Properties Formulations for Propagation in Finely Structured Laminates -a Multi-resolution Approach Ben Z. Steinberg, Homogenization and Eeective Properties -a Multiresolution Approach
Multi-resolution approach is used to derive homogenized (large-scale) formulation for propagation of waves in complex laminates. Basic entities such as boundary conditions, spatial and temporal spectrum (eigenvalues and resonances), Wronskian, modal expansions, and Green function representations associated with the homogenized formulation are discussed. The relations between them and their gene...
متن کاملLongitudinal and Transversal Vibration Response of Beams by Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA)
The useful and efficient method of Finite Element (FEM) has a drawback for dynamic analysis of complex structures, especially in the medium and high frequency range. To overcome this fundamental difficulty, application of Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) and power flow technique has been suggested. As the SEA is based on the average response of structure and statistical properties of its reson...

متن کاملEffective Resonance Representation of Propagators in Complex Ducts—A Multiresolution and Homogenization Approach
We use the multiresolution homogenization theory to study the effective resonances representation of transient electromagnetic propagation in complex random multilayer ducts. The theory permits explicit choice of the smoothing (homogenization) scale, and can be applied to a wide range of micro-scale properties. The analytical study is based on a Wroskian equivalence result, which establishes th...
